Cis-Topo Study
In the study, women with these types of cancer are given the medications over a 9-18 week period. Then, researchers monitor their progress to determine if their cancers shrink and become more treatable.
If the technique is successful it could limit – or eliminate - the need for radiation therapy (or combined chemoradiation), the current standard treatment for advanced cervical cancer. For patients with vulvar cancer, the treatment could also help them avoid surgery that involves more risk and greater tissue loss.
