Creative Support Ideas propel WORD in 2007

In 2007, there were many people that had creative ideas of raising support and supporting financially WORD’s mission. Two of these were a ride across the country and a dinner and dance.

In July, Scott Cole, son-in-law of 10 year cancer survivor set out on a long journey to raise awareness of ovarian cancer.

As Scott says, “I was inspired by a Hero I was lucky enough to have cross my life’s path. She is an inspiration not only to me, but to all who know her. She is the mother of my wonderful wife, Angie. The Hero I am talking about is Kolleen Stacey and about a decade ago, Kolleen was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.

I use the term Hero because she champions a Hero’s cause. Kolleen works tirelessly to spread the word about Ovarian cancer. She spoke to The Congress of the United States with her friend, Congressman Dan Burton about Johanna’s Law-at that time it was a bill, but on January 12, 2007, it became law. There would be a list a mile long if one wrote down all the things she has done to promote awareness of Ovarian Cancer, helped survivors, educated women, and more.” We were thankful that Scott gave the funds raised to WORD.

In 2008 we hope to partner with other survivors, survivor’s families, and surviving families.
