Why WORD?

First, I was looking for a new challenge in the non-profit field and WORD best fit the type of challenge I was looking for.  Secondly, my mother is a breast cancer survivor because she was vigilant and caught an aggressive cancer early.  Third, my sister is one of the founding physicians of WORD, and well, how could I say no.

Soon I quickly came to understand the great need:  too many women do not know about gynecologic cancers and furthermore, way too many women are not receiving proper treatment. So to make it simple... I saw and still see WORD as a way to meet the great challenge presented before us.

What are your day-to-day responsibilities?

My day-to-day responsibilities are changing as we grow.  Ultimately, my job is to oversee the “big picture” of WORD and make sure we reach our mission and adhere to our strategic plan.  So every day can be a little different.  I enjoy working with potential funders, meeting with survivors or surviving families and helping give them a voice, listening to doctors dream about new treatments or even cures, and working to create new and better ways to communicate important information.

Tell us more about you.

I am 33, I have been married for 10 years to my beautiful wife.  We first met in 8th grade and had a “camp romance.”  I have three great kids (2 daughters and 1 son).  I love sports, especially Michigan Football, college basketball, the Chicago Cubs, and Indianapolis Colts.  I enjoy a good cup of coffee and I am hooked on any product by Apple!
