About WORD
We’re here for a very good reason.
You.
WORD (Women's Oncology Research & Dialogue) is an Indianapolis-based organization dedicated to helping women everywhere overcome gynecologic cancer – both emotionally and physically. We believe no woman should have to face the burden of cancer, especially not alone. So we search for a cure while simultaneously working to create a meaningful dialogue between the people who have been touched by the disease.
Our Mission
WORD is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women conquer gynecologic cancers through coordinating innovative scientific and clinical research, creating practical educational resources, resulting in empowering education for women and medical personnel about proper prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
WORD History
WORD was founded in 2007 by a group of gynecologic oncologists with a shared passion: saving women’s lives. They felt strongly that more could be done to prevent women’s cancers. So together, they created WORD, a new organization designed to help educate, raise awareness, and drive research into these heartbreaking diseases.
Our founders’ backgrounds in research, surgery, chemotherapy, and the emotional aspects of the fight against cancer made them uniquely qualified to create an organization like no other. That’s why, from the beginning, WORD has been a source of hope for some many people.
Why is our work so important? Because every woman is at risk from gynecologic cancers. And until a cure is found, we know that best defense is education. So we work to spread our message – while simultaneously funding ongoing cancer research
WORD Today
Today, WORD is guided by an amazing group of people who dedicate boundless energy and countless hours toward helping us achieve our mission.
