Message From WORD

A message from the executive director:

Nate Manahan

Dear friends,

I am reminded everyday why WORD exists. At this very moment, there are women who are suffering from cancer. And yes, some of them will lose their fight. I can’t help but wonder how many of them could have been saved by earlier detection.

That breaks my heart.

I sometimes summarize our mission at WORD by saying “know more, do more.”  We need women to know more about their bodies. We need researchers to know more about these diseases and how to beat them. We need to women to do more about their health to prevent gynecologic cancers. These are the reasons it’s so critical that we facilitate a dialogue between women, physicians, and researchers. In the end, it really is about knowing – and doing – more.

If you are visiting our site for the first time, welcome. I hope you will learn and take action. If you’ve followed our journey for some time, I hope you will look for additional ways to get involved.

Please, consider following us on our social networks like Twitter and Facebook. And if you can, volunteer with Jane’s Mission or Kolleen’s Kards. Both of these initiatives are worth your time, and integrally important to our mission.

Most importantly, thank you for caring. Together, I know we can win this fight.
